All foreign visitors wishing to enter Japan must have a valid passport. Visas may also be required for participants coming from the corresponding countries. For further information, participants are recommended to consult their carrier, local travel agencies or the nearest Japanese diplomatic mission.

Request for Invitation Letters
We will prepare upon request an invitation letter written in English for your visa application. As a rule, this procedure applies only to the authors of submitted papers who will pay the registration fees through the conference registration system. We only support visa application for the purpose of attending the conference. To issue an invitation letter, the applicants should satisfy all of the following conditions 1-4.
1. The applicant is an author of a submitted paper.
2. The applicant ensures to pay the registration fee.
3. The applicant has filled out the visa_info_form_SAMCON2024.
4. The applicant has sent the form to the SAMCON2024 visa support desk:

Attention
* The Visa Information Form must be sent to the secretariat of SAMCON2024 by Feb. 9th, 2024. When you send the form, please also attach a copy of your passport (as a scanned PDF file). Please be noted that it may take a week or more to issue an invitation letter. It may also take time to send you the letter. You are advised to start the process as early as possible.
* Since it takes time to obtain a visa after its application, we suggest you to clarify immediately the detailed procedure and the required documents at the Japanese Embassy/Consulate General in your country. Please proceed the visa application on your responsibility.
* Requirements for quarantine and visa application documents may differ depending on your departure country. Please confirm the requirements on your responsibility.
* Kindly confirm the details of your transit visa on your responsibility if you fly to Japan via any other countries. Please also check both the conditions and the period of quarantine of the transit countries.
* We are sorry but the SAMCON2024 takes no responsibility for your loss in the case that you need to cancel your flight, hotel, and so on.
Japan lies in the North Temperature Zone, so the climate is mild in general and similar to that of the middle belt of the United States and central or southern Europe. The average temperature in March in Kyoto is 8.8 degC (Max 14.1 degC, Min 4.3 degC).
The local currency is Japanese Yen (JPY). Major foreign currencies such as U.S. Dollars and Euro can be changed at the airport or authorized banks. It is possible that you may have trouble in changing money into local currency if you bring other than main international currencies. Banking hours are 9:00 to 15:00, Monday through Friday except National Holidays.
All conference participants are strongly advised to carry the proper travel and health insurance. The conference cannot accept liability for any accidents or injuries that may occur at the conference. Please consult your travel agent regarding the matter.
Tipping is not common in Japan, except when special service is requested.
