The Yokkaichi Cultural Hall is quite accessible from Kintetsu Yokkaichi Station. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes from the station to the Hall by walk.
The Hall is located at the city centre of Yokkaichi, playing an important role in the cultural aspect in Yokkaichi. Thus, the vicinity of the Hall has a couples of hotels, some of them has english-spoken staffs, that will bring the foreign participants convenience and comfort.
Yokkaichi has long history for more than 500 years. The city's name, which means "4th-day market" was mentioned as early as 1473 in documents in Ise Shrine. Yokkaichi was so named because of the market that was regularly held in the city every 10 days beginning on the forth day of the month. Since then, Yokkaichi has been developping as a post station in Tokaido connecting between Tokyo and Osaka.
As mentioned above, Yokkaichi has an aspect of a historical city. On the otherhand, it has an aspect of an industrial city. Japan's first petrochemical complex was constructed in the late 1950fs in Yokkaichi's coastal industrial zone. Lights from the complex shine brightly at night, creating one of the most impressive views in Yokkaichi. The port of Yokkaichi, the first port in Ise Bay (Completed in 1899), commemorated its centennial in 1999. Since being designated one of the Specially Designated Major Ports in 1952, it has developed into a prosperous international trading port.
Mie prefecture in which Yokkaichi is largest city, is famous in the origine of Ninja which is one of the most famous Japanese
